Three ways booking shows up on a Google Business Profile
"Google booking" means three different things, and they're often mixed up. Which one you use decides what the customer sees, where the booking goes, and what it costs.
| Booking link you add | Provider Book online button | Local Services Ads booking | |
|---|---|---|---|
| How it's set up | You paste a URL under Booking in your profile | A booking provider connected to Reserve with Google sends your listing to Google | A Google-listed booking partner plus a Local Services Ads account |
| What customers see | A booking link. Google doesn't document it as a button, and a Google Product Expert says it doesn't get the blue booking button | A Book online button on your Search and Maps listing | A Book option on your Local Services ad |
| Where the booking happens | Whatever page you linked | The provider's booking page for your business | A booking flow on the ad |
| Cost from Google | Free | Free from Google; your provider may charge | You pay per valid lead |
| Booking reports in Google | Not available for custom links | Available | In your Local Services Ads account |

What you need before you start
A verified, active Business Profile
Google won't add booking links to an unverified profile, and a suspended or disabled profile can't show them.
An eligible business category
Google's booking-provider policy lists a Home Services category that names plumbers, electricians, AC contractors, roofers, house cleaners, appliance repair, landscapers, and carpenters. Google notes the list isn't exhaustive, and emergency appointment types aren't supported.
Matching business details everywhere
The provider matches your business to your Maps listing by name, address, phone, and website. Small differences, like "&" in one place and "and" in another, can stop the match.
Real services and open times
Google needs at least one service and future availability from your provider before a button can go live.
A booking page that finishes the job
The page customers land on has to belong to your business and let them complete the booking — not a generic homepage.
Option 1: add your own booking link
If you already have an online booking or request page, you can add it to your profile yourself. It's free and takes a minute, but it's a plain link, not the provider button.
- 1
Open your profile's booking settings
On Google Search, open your Business Profile and choose Booking. On Maps, choose Edit profile, then the booking link type.
- 2
Add the link
Click Add link, paste the URL of your booking page, and save. If you add more than one link, you can mark one as the business-preferred link.
- 3
Make sure Google can load it
Google checks booking links with a crawler and removes links that are blocked, behind a login or CAPTCHA, or don't load normally. Link shorteners, social media, and messaging links aren't allowed.
The ServiceReserve booking link works here too
Every ServiceReserve form has a direct booking link. It's a good fallback while a provider button is being matched, but it won't give you the provider button or Google's booking reports.
Set it up with ServiceReserve
ServiceReserve connects your profile to Reserve with Google and hosts a booking form built for service calls: services, intake questions, photo uploads, a ZIP-code check, and arrival windows. You don't need to pick us from a list in Google — you turn it on from your ServiceReserve account.
- 1
Create your account and pick your trade
Your booking form starts with that trade's common services. Rename, reprice, or remove any of them in Services.
- 2
Import your Google Business Profile
Go to Business Profiles → Import from Google, click Connect Google Account, and pick your locations. See Business profiles.
- 3
Finish the booking form
Add the questions you'd ask on the phone, the ZIP codes you serve in Service areas, and how customers choose a time in Schedules.
- 4
Turn on Reserve with Google
Open the profile and click Enable under Reserve with Google. You'll be asked to start your 30-day free trial first ($0 today, card required). The profile needs a full street address.
- 5
Wait for Google, then watch bookings arrive
The Book online button usually appears within 24–48 hours. Bookings from it show the source Google Business Profile in Requests.

If your profile hides your address
Most home service businesses are service-area businesses: the profile shows the area you cover, not a street address. Google's matching guidelines say providers can't match these automatically — they have to be matched by hand. Housecall Pro and Jobber say the same in their own help centers.
With ServiceReserve, your profile in ServiceReserve still needs a full street address before you can enable Reserve with Google. If the button hasn't appeared 48 hours after you turn it on, email [email protected] and include your Google Maps link. Our troubleshooting checklist covers the other common causes.
Local Services Ads booking is a separate thing
Local Services Ads (the "Google Guaranteed" and "Google Screened" ads) can also take bookings, but they're paid: you're charged for each valid lead, and a booking request counts as a lead. Google lists LSA booking for the United States through specific booking partners.
Google presents LSA booking as working alongside the free profile button, not replacing it. If you're a verified LSA advertiser and a listed partner manages your profile's booking link, that link can carry over to your ad automatically. ServiceReserve is not a Local Services Ads booking partner; it adds the free Book online button to your organic listing.
After it's live: track what Google brings in
- Every booking from the button is labeled Google Business Profile in Requests, with the location it came from.
- Analytics breaks bookings down by source and by business profile, so you can compare Google with your website and shared links.
- Send bookings where you already work — Housecall Pro, GoHighLevel, Zoho CRM, Google Sheets, Slack, or a webhook. See all integrations.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Google Book online button free?
Google doesn't charge for the provider button on your Business Profile. Booking providers usually do — ServiceReserve is $25 a month per location after a 30-day free trial. Local Services Ads booking is different: it's paid per lead.
Does a booking link I add myself show the Book online button?
Google doesn't document a manually added link as a button, and a Google Product Expert says it doesn't get the blue booking button. The button comes from a booking provider connected to Reserve with Google.
How long does the Book online button take to appear?
Google says up to a week for provider buttons. With ServiceReserve it usually takes 24–48 hours after you click Enable. Service-area businesses without a public address can take longer because they're matched by hand.
Can home service businesses use Reserve with Google?
Yes. Google's policy for booking providers lists a Home Services category that names plumbers, electricians, AC contractors, roofers, house cleaners, appliance repair, landscapers, and carpenters. Emergency appointments aren't supported.
Do I need a website?
No. The Book online button opens a booking page hosted for your business. If you have a website, you can embed the same form there too.
I have several locations. Does each one get a button?
Each Google Business Profile gets its own button. With ServiceReserve, import every location and turn Reserve with Google on for each one. See Reserve with Google for multiple locations.
